Kaleidoscopic nose as this wine is deftly moving between its primary fruit stage and its earth-driven and savory age. Sangiovese is a wonderfully moody grape that seemingly shape shifts between the two worlds and does so gracefully, and seemingly often. There is undoubtedly a brawny and vibrant red fruit element present, but there is so much more here. Prosciutto, pink peppercorn, chanterelle mushroom, pine needles, and rosemary. So much flesh in this remarkably transparent wine. Blood orange and clove. Hibiscus tea, pomegranate and red licorice. Long finish of chewy tannins that heighten the vibrancy and vividness of this superb Tierra.
